Races for tonight April 20, 2012 have been cancelled. The Together WE Fight Hunger 25 for 35 in honor of Brian Hetrick will be rescheduled, information will be released on the rescheduled event later this weekend.
Rain in Donnellson over night has left the racetrack very wet, and cool temps and no sun are making the drying process ver slow. We will make a decision at 1 p.m. about the racing action tonight at Lee County Speedway.
DONNELLSON, Iowa (April 19, 2012) – TA Auto & Tire has added money to the Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA Sport Mod purse for tomorrow night, April 20, to make the seventh and eighth place finishers each earn $100.
Our initial story was listed as the top eight spots were earning $100 or more, but it was an error, which was corrected with the post yesterday. Today, however, after some conversations, Tracy St. Clair decided he would put the money up to make the purse pay $100 for 6th, 7th and 8th.
The corrected and final purse payout for the IMCA Sport Mods is listed below.
There was a mistake in the story for this weekend’s event when talking about the sport mod payout for the Together WE Fight Hunger 25 for 35 in honor of Brian Hetrick. It was in the story that the top eight positions would make at least $100. That is actually the top six positions. The payout listed below the story was correct, but the wording in the story was wrong. We appologize for the error.
Keokuk business challenges others to do same
DONNELLSON, Iowa – As we work toward the Together WE Fight Hunger 25 for 35 in honor of Brian Hetrick, Friday, at Lee County Speedway, the first monetary pledge has come in to help the fight.
Tracy St. Clair, of TA Auto and Tire, in Keokuk, has pledge the first $100 to the fight against hunger. He has challenged all other businesses in the area to make a pledge to the fight as well.
Pledges can be made at the track, Friday, or can be made by mail as well. Feel free to send a monetary donation to Together WE Fight Hunger, c/o Lee County Speedway, 3535 Main St., Keokuk, IA 52632. If you send a check, please make it payable to Lee County Speedway. Put Hunger in the memo line!

Together WE Fight Hunger 25 for 35 in honor of Brian Hetrick set to be first event of 2012
DONNELLSON, Iowa (April 18, 2012) – The weather forecast for Friday has cleared up and it now calls for high chance of racing action finally getting underway at Lee County Speedway, Donnellson, Iowa.
Hy-Vee and Midwest Performance bring one of the biggest shows of the year to the facility, as they host the Together WE Fight Hunger 25 for 35 in honor of Brian Hetrick. The race boasts a $1,000 to win and $200 to start 305 sprint car race and now a $500 to win Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA Sport Mod race.
As well as being a sponsor for the night, Hy-Vee is also helping with one of the best parts of the event, the campaign to raise money to purchase necessities for area food pantries. Money donations will be taken throughout the night and for every $25 raised as part of the event, Hy-Vee will donate $10 more when food is purchased at either the Fort Madison or Keokuk Hy-vee. So that means Hy-Vee will make every $25 into $35 worth of nonperishable food items for food pantries in the area!
Many great sponsors have come on board to help make the event special! Including H&P Excavating, which will sponsor a dash to help set up the front three rows of the feature event. Each heat winner as well as the top cars in passing points will be used to fill the six car field for the H&P Excavating Dash. The pay for the H&P Excavating Dash is listed at the end of the story.
