Donnellson, IA (Friday, March 29, 2013) – Despite mother nature dumping several inches of snow on the facilities last Sunday at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA, the scheduled season opener went off as planned. The track promoter Mike Van Genderen and owner Dave Sapp worked all day Monday to remove the snow from the track and pits, and then waited until Thursday and Friday to work it back in. There hard work would pay off, as the Mohrfeld Electric Spring Extravaganza was put into the books.

PostHeaderIcon LEE COUNTY SPEEDWAY INCREASES IMCA MODIFIED AND IMCA STOCK CAR PURSE

Donnellson, IA (Monday, March 11, 2013) – Lee County Speedway has stepped up to the plate in 2013.  The IMCA Modified purse has been increased from the 2012 weekly purse of $2830 to $3110 which is an increase of $280. IMCA Modifieds will be $400 to win and $100 to start thru May 31.

In 2013 IMCA Modifieds will be guaranteed $100 to start over the $60 to start in the 2012 season. That $40 extra guarantee will help get that driver back to the track the next week.  At the end of May we will evaluate this program and hopefully continue this purse for the rest of the year.  Although drivers with a perfect attendance will stay on this new purse structure for the whole 2013 regular point season.

IMCA Stock Cars will also see a weekly purse increase of $270 thru May 31.  In 2012 the weekly purse was $1945 and has been increased to $2215 thru May 31.  IMCA Stock Cars will still be $300 to win but instead of $50 to start in 2012 we have raised that to $70.  Once again we will evaluate this at the end of May, but drivers with a perfect attendance will be locked in to this purse for the remainder of the 2013 regular points season.

This year there are many changes in the works with the already announced “Free Pit Pass Program” and point system between the Lee County Speedway, Southern Iowa Speedway, and the Hamilton County Speedway.  If a driver qualifies for the free pit pass program at the Lee County Speedway that driver will have a minimum value of $125 in the Modifieds and $95 minimum value in the Stock Cars.  This value is by not paying the $25 pit pass and getting $100 and $70 respectively as a minimum for starting the feature.

We want drivers to be able to come to Lee County Speedway and go home with more in their pocket. With gas prices the extra dollars will help drivers make the trip back the next week.  Under this new purse structure cars must start the feature to be eligible.  Cars that don’t start feature will receive tow money.

Hope to see everyone on Friday, March 29 for the Mohrfeld Electric Spring Estravaganza,  All 5 classes will be racing.

PostHeaderIcon Free Pit Pass Program Announced for 2013

Gendel Promotions is excited to announce the “Free Pit Pass Program” for drivers racing at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA, Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA and the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, IA in 2013. Drivers in the Modified, Stock Car, SportMod, Hobby Stock and Sport Compact classes will be eligible.

“I have been racing for 20 years and have never received a free pit pass in all those years,” says Mike Van Genderen, promoter of all three tracks. “Last year at the Southern Iowa Speedway we gave out over $8,000 in free pit passes to drivers who supported the track.”

In 2013 drivers will have a “home track” that they will pay pit passes like normal. These drivers will be able to race the other two tracks for free with perfect attendance at their home track. Many drivers bought their season pit passes for their home track at Thanksgiving and will be able to race the whole season for $300 or under at all three tracks.

To be eligible for free pit passes at the other two tracks, drivers must have perfect attendance at their home track including all specials. After you have raced at your home track on their opening night you will be eligible to get in free at the other two tracks on weekly track point nights.

This promotion will not include specials that are non-weekly track point nights. If a driver misses one night during the season at his home track then that driver will get $15 off of a pit pass at the other two tracks. If a driver misses two or more nights at his home track then that driver will get $10 off at the other two tracks if he maintains 51% or more attendance at his home track.

Drivers in central and east central Iowa are then able to drive within two hours and be able to race at all three tracks and only pay one pit pass a week. A points system will also be announced at a later date that will take your home track points and your best 12 nights at the other tracks including all specials.

Drivers will also be able to collect points for this program at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO, for the Spring Fling, March 22-23.

With gas prices and the cost of racing we are trying to help the racers out in 2013.
