PostHeaderIcon Modified and Hobby Stock Points Start This Friday, April 26th

Donnellson, IA (Thursday, April 25, 2013) – After two straight weeks of rain outs the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA looks to get back in action this Friday, April 26th, with Farmington Tax & Accounting and Donnellson Tire Night at the races.

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds and Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks will have their season opening points night this Friday. Along with the Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Cars, Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods and Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts continuing their points battles.

IMCA MODIFIEDS AND STOCK CARS don’t forget that for the months of April and May the starting money for the IMCA Modifieds has been raised to $100 and the IMCA Stock Cars to $70 respectively to start. Perfect attendance from this Friday on for both classes will guarantee this for the whole season. So Stock Cars if you missed opening night you can still get the guaranteed start money after May for the rest of the season. If you miss a night you will lose the extra guaranteed start money from June forward.

Plus any new competitor to the Lee County Speedway will not be required to pay the track registration fee. Which means we would like to invite you to come down and give the Lee County Speedway a try without having to pay the track registration fee. But if, and we hope you do return, then you will be required to pay the track registration fee of $25.

Gates will open at 5:30 pm, hot laps at 7:00 pm, and racing set for 7:30 pm. Grandstand admission will be adults $10, seniors $9, students (7-17) $5, and kids 6 & under FREE! Pit passes will be $25, ages 7-13 $15, and ages 6 & under $10.

Donnellson, IA (Friday, April 19, 2013) – The racing action set for tonight (Friday, April 19th) has been cancelled. Next Friday, April 26th will be Farmington Tax & Accounting and Donnellson Tire Night.

PostHeaderIcon LEE COUNTY SPEEDWAY POSTPONES 5th ANNUAL BRIAN HETRICK MEMORIAL

Donnellson, IA (Wednesday, April 10, 2013) – Mother nature has forced officials at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA to postpone the races for this Friday, April 12th. With all the heavy rains that moved over the facilities on Wednesday and the forecast for cool temperatures over the next couple of day, it just wouldn’t allow the crew to get onto the track to get it prepped in time for Friday’s racing action.

So due to a Sprint Invaders race scheduled for Friday, April 19th at the Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, IA, the 5th Annual Brian Hetrick Memorial for 305 Sprint Cars, presented by Randall’s Performance and Holtkamp’s Trailer Repair, has been moved to Friday, May 17th. Darkside Tint and Graphix, along with Driftwood 13 Bar will also be that nights sponsor. Which is paying the 305 Sprints $1,000 to win.The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds and Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks will have there season opening points night next Friday, April 19th, as it will be Donnellson Tire and Coor’s Light Night at the races. Also in action on the night will be the Donnellston Tire IMCA Stock Cars, Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods and Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts.

PostHeaderIcon Hogan, Murty, Luellen, Coffman and Dunker Collect at Lee County Speedway Opener

Donnellson, IA (Friday, March 29, 2013) – Despite mother nature dumping several inches of snow on the facilities last Sunday at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA, the scheduled season opener went off as planned. The track promoter Mike Van Genderen and owner Dave Sapp worked all day Monday to remove the snow from the track and pits, and then waited until Thursday and Friday to work it back in. There hard work would pay off, as the Mohrfeld Electric Spring Extravaganza was put into the books.

PostHeaderIcon Lee County’s Friday Spring Extravaganza is first IMCA event of 2013 in Iowa

DONNELLSON, Iowa (March 25) – Snow is being cleared off the track this morning (Monday), warmer temperatures are in the forecast and the first IMCA event of 2013 in Iowa will be held this Friday, March 29 at Lee County Speedway.

The Spring Extravaganza at Donnellson is headlined by a $1,000 to win feature for IMCA Xtreme… Motor Sports Modifieds.

The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier is joined by IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods running for $500 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 to win and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $200 to win.

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. and racing starts at 7:15 p.m. More information is available from promoter Mike Van Genderen at 641 521-0330. Any driver running late that afternoon can call the same number and the track will draw for them.

Entry fees are $30 for Modifieds, $25 for Stock Cars and Northern SportMods, $20 for Hobby Stocks and $15 for Sport Compacts. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $6 for students ages 7-17, and free for six and under. Pit passes are $25.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded.

PostHeaderIcon Lee County Speedway Releases an Updated 2013 Schedule

Donnellson, IA (Thursday, March 7, 2013) – Track promoter, Mike Van Genderen, is proud to release an updated schedule for the 2013 season at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA. While the weekly classes haven’t changed much, with the exception of the Hobby Stocks going to IMCA in 2013, there is plenty of exciting nights planned for the new season.

The 2013 season is set to kick off on Friday, March 29th with the Mohrfeld Electric Spring Extravaganza, featuring the IMCA Modifieds going for a $1,000 top prize, with a $30 entry fee. This will also be a Fast Shaft All-Star Invitational Qualifier. The IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA SportMods will be going for a top prize of $500 to win, with a $25 entry fee. While the IMCA Hobby Stocks will be racing for $300 to win with a $20 entry fee, and the IMCA Sport Compacts going for a top prize of $200 to win with a $15 entry fee. All though this is not a track points event, IMCA national, state and regional points will be awarded in all five classes. Pit gates will open at 5:00pm, grandstands at 5:30pm, with hot laps set for 6:45pm, and racing at 7:15pm. Pit passes will be $25, while the grandstands will be adults $12, students (7-17) $6 and kids 6 and under FREE!

PostHeaderIcon Foster, Cook, Carter, Wenig, Griffiths, and Gates Cap Off Fall Extravaganza With Wins

Donnellson, IA (Sunday, October 21, 2012) – Mother nature provided a perfect evening for the final night, night two, of the 1st Annual Fall Extravaganza presented by Discount Tire and Service at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA. At the end of the night Josh Foster (Budweiser Modifieds), Jason Cook (Donnellton Tire Stock Cars), Cayden Carter (Shottenkirk Parts Express SportMods), Jake Wenig (Coor’s Light LCS Hobby Stocks), Dustin Griffiths (IMCA Hobby Stocks), and Adam Gates (Sunline Auto Parts Sport Compacts) took home the big checks in there respective feature events.

With 126 cars signed in on the final night of the Fall Extravaganza there were 12 heat races and 2 semis ran to help set the features in all six classes. After all qualifying events were ran, it was time for the features to take to the speedway.

The first feature up on the night was the 15 lap Sunline Auto Parts Sport Compacts, with Adam Gates and Skipp Dunker leading the field to the drop of the green flag. Gates would take advantage of his front row start to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Dunker and Michael Grossman. Just like he did in Saturday’s qualifying feature, Gates started to pull away from the battle for second when the field was slowed for the firs time on lap 8. Mike Hornung Jr. would spin in turn 4 to bring out the first caution of the event. On the restart Gates moved back out front, with Merv Chandler, who started 8th, slipping past Dunker for 2nd. But the action up front was slowed on lap 9, as Randy Foor spun coming off turn 4 to bring the yellow light back on. Gates once again jumped out into the lead on the restart, with Chandler, Dunker and John Whalen battling it out for 2nd. Gates would pull away from the field over the final laps to pick up the win and the $400 top prize. Chandler won the battle for 2nd, Dunker was 3rd, Whalen was 4th, with Josh Barnes coming from 14th to round out the top 5.

PostHeaderIcon Night One of the Fall Extravaganza Goes to Foster, Cook, Carter, Wenig, Griffiths and Gates

Donnellson, IA (Saturday, October 20, 2012) – The 1st Annual Fall Extravaganza presented by Discount Tire and Service of Keokuk, IA swung into action on Saturday, October 20th at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA. The days leading up to the weekend didn’t look like the event was going to be able to happen, as mother nature rained on the facilities Wednesday and Thursday to force officials to push the first night back to Saturday.

Josh Foster (Budweiser Modifieds), Jason Cook (Donnellson Tire Stock Cars), Cayden Carter (Shottenkirk Parts Express SportMods), Dan Wenig (Coor’s Light LCS Hobby Stocks), Dustin Griffiths (IMCA Hobby Stocks), and Adam Gates (Sunline Auto Parts Sport Compacts) took home the opening night feature wins. While 115 cars signed in on the night, with the top 6 in each of the features locking themselves into Sunday’s main events. After 16 heat races and 1 semi was ran the features were set to take to the speedway.
