PostHeaderIcon Car Show huge success

Practice right around corner for LCS 2012

Last Sunday’s Lee County Speedway Car Show was a huge success in its new location at the Keokuk Hy-Vee! With 21 cars in attendance, there was plenty to look at for everyone.

It was great to have the RC cars from Tomlie Raceway on hand as part of the show! Also, the Lomax Fire Dept. had a Ranger XP 800, which they are raffling off with the help of Outdoor Power, in Quincy, on hand and wold tickets.

The winner of the car show will be announced during the first night of racing at Lee County Speedway, April 13th. Don’t forget all five of our normal classes will be running on opening night, with the modifieds running for $1,000 to win.

PostHeaderIcon Hy-Vee comes on board to sponsor 25 for 35

Event to help supply food for area food pantries thanks to new sponsor

DONNELLSON, Iowa (Mar. 21, 2012) – Hy-Vee stores in Keokuk and Ft. Madison have not only come on board as a night sponsor for the Together We Fight Hunger 25 for 35 in honor of Brian Hetrick 305 Sprint Car event at Lee County Speedway, April 20, but they have taken their obligation a step further.

Throughout the night, fans at Lee County Speedway will be able to make donations to purchase non-perishable food items for local food pantries. Hy-Vee has agreed to make every $25 donated, $35. That’s right for every $25 worth of food LCS is able to buy with donated funds, Hy-Vee will add $10 worth of non-perishable food items, making it truly 25 for 35.

“We are very excited to have Hy-Vee, in Ft. Madison and Keokuk, come onboard for what we expect to be an outstanding event,” LCS promoter Dewain Hulett said. “I think this shows how truly locally minded these stores are.

“It will be a great way to get a new sponsor involved with the track as well, and there may be one more special little treat involved with Hy-Vee, but that is still in the works,” he added.

Hy-Vee will have a presence at the track during its first sponsorship night at Lee County Speedway. Also, the car show will be held at Hy-Vee, in Keokuk, for the first time.

PostHeaderIcon Rule clarifications for ‘Break Ice not Hearts 50′

DONNELLSON, Iowa – Questions have been raised about the rule package that has been adopted for the “Break Ice not Hearts 50,” hopefully this new release will clear up some of those questions.

IMCA rules will be used as a base set of rules. Car types that are legal in sport compact rules are legal. Other none performance based rules will not be enforced.

Focus points for the event will include tires no wider than 60 series (no other restrictions) and no variable valve timing. Otherwise if your car’s powerplant falls with the rules the car will be considered legal.

Questions have also been brought up about OEM bodies. Since these are not performance enhancing items the rules pertaining to them will not be enforced. Also, after market radiators will be allowed.

Some of our local cars ran a aftermarket header last year and may not have began work for the 2012 season. Therefore cars that qualified in that regard under the 2011 LCS rulebook will be considered legal for this event.

It is important also to point out that full saftey gear is required including a suitable rollcage as well as basic personal safety equipment. These items will be checked and cars not deemed safe by on site technical personnel will not be allowed to compete.

Again if there are any questions or if there are any doubts about your car being legal please contact Dewain at 309-331-3804 or by email at promoter@leecountyspeedway.com.
