Races Cancelled for July 6

DONNELLSON, Iowa (July 3, 2012) – Management at Lee County Speedway made the decision today to cancel scheduled races for the facility, July 6.

Heat throughout the week and very high temperatures forecasted for race day this week prompted the decision. The forecasted high for Friday is 99, and only dropping to around 94 by racetime.

“We feel like it is in the best interest of all invovled to cancel racing action for this weekend,” Lee County Speedway promoter Dewain Hulett said. “While this is obviously partially a business decision, it is largely a safety decision, as it will not be safe for fans or crews, let alone drivers, to be out in the forecasted heat.”

The 305 race that was scheduled for July 6, will be rescheduled. Check the website regularly for updates.

Racing action will resume at Lee County Speedway, Wednesday, July 11, as the Lee County Fair hosts the MOWA series. The 410 sprint cars will be making their first appearance at LCS in over 10 years.
