“I have been racing for 20 years and have never received a free pit pass in all those years,” says Mike Van Genderen, promoter of all three tracks. “Last year at the Southern Iowa Speedway we gave out over $8,000 in free pit passes to drivers who supported the track.”
In 2013 drivers will have a “home track” that they will pay pit passes like normal. These drivers will be able to race the other two tracks for free with perfect attendance at their home track. Many drivers bought their season pit passes for their home track at Thanksgiving and will be able to race the whole season for $300 or under at all three tracks.
To be eligible for free pit passes at the other two tracks, drivers must have perfect attendance at their home track including all specials. After you have raced at your home track on their opening night you will be eligible to get in free at the other two tracks on weekly track point nights.
This promotion will not include specials that are non-weekly track point nights. If a driver misses one night during the season at his home track then that driver will get $15 off of a pit pass at the other two tracks. If a driver misses two or more nights at his home track then that driver will get $10 off at the other two tracks if he maintains 51% or more attendance at his home track.
Drivers in central and east central Iowa are then able to drive within two hours and be able to race at all three tracks and only pay one pit pass a week. A points system will also be announced at a later date that will take your home track points and your best 12 nights at the other tracks including all specials.
Drivers will also be able to collect points for this program at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO, for the Spring Fling, March 22-23.
With gas prices and the cost of racing we are trying to help the racers out in 2013.
