If you sponsor the night maybe the bad luck will end. Corey Stout found the same fate at the Southern Iowa Speedway on Wednesday night as he picked up a long overdue win. Bill Roberts has had to leave before the features twice already this season because of mechanical issues. On Friday night it was original start formation for the whole 20 lap race. Brandon Banks on the bottom groove, Bill Roberts on the top groove, and Andrew Schroeder in the between them every lap in turn 2. Meanwhile Jeff Waterman and Jeff Mueller were right behind them looking for a hole. After a late race yellow Brandon Banks was leading and had to pull off right before we went green. In the closing laps it was Bill Roberts holding off a hard charging Waterman. Jeff Mueller came in 3rd and Steve Stewart in 4th.
The IMCA Stock Cars put on the their normal fantastic show. Four wide came out of the announcers mouth many times. Corey Strothman was the man of the night till with about 3 to go his car started shooting out fire of the 20 lap race. This opened the door for Ray Raker to pick up his 2nd consecutive win. Jake Wenig came home in a close 2nd, Jim Lynch in 3rd, and Jeremy Pundt in 4th.
Jarod Miller led the early laps of the IMCA Sport Mod feature with a sizeable lead. After a caution Austin Howe powered his way to the front around the outside of Miller. John Oliver Jr. and Tony Dunker were weaving their way thru the field. In the end John Oliver Jr. picked up the win with pont leader Tony Dunker a close 2nd. Brandon Dale came home in the 3rd spot and Jared Miller in 4th.
The IMCA Hobby Stocks took the track and going into turn 1 on the first lap Leah Wroten got a little loose and the 5B of Dane Blozovich had no where to go and they came together. After a complete restart Dane Blozovich took the lead and never looked back. The race for 2nd was very exciting with Doug Gorden taking that spot, with Dustin Griffiths in 3rd, and Anthony Cassat in 4th.
Josh Barnes looked like he was on a mission as he went 3 wide early along the outside guardrail to take the lead early in the race. Austien Beccara was in hot pursuit the whole race and looked like he was gong to offer a challenge to Barnes. After a late race caution Austin had trouble getting his car up to speed and this allowed Barnes to the easy victory. 2013 Track Champion Brandon Reu came in 2nd, Alyssa Steele in 3rd, and Beccerra in 4th.
Next week is Darkside Tint and Driftwood 13 Bar night at the races. Lots of toys to give away and 80 pounds of candy. Yes we said 80 pounds of candy this upcoming Friday night.
