Donnellson, IA (Friday, August 21, 2015) – After taking two weeks off, the racing action returned to the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa on Friday. The night would mark the first visit of the season by the Sprint Invaders, as the first event was rained out earlier in the season. Presenting the nights action would be Mohrfeld Electric of Fort Madison, Iowa. At the end of the nights activities there would be two new winners and three repeat winners on the season standing in victory lane.

The first feature to take to the track was the 14 lap Coors Light IMCA Hobby Stocks, with Kevin Koontz and Brandon Symmonds leading the field to the drop of the green flag. But just as the green flag was waved the caution light would come on, as Clayton Webster spun in turn 2 and collected Sierra Wilsey to bring out the yellow. On the restart Dustin Griffiths, who started 4th, would edge out Symmonds at the line by inches to grab the lead on lap 1. Griffiths then went on to lead the next 6 laps, when he started to slow with mechanical troubles. This would hand the lead over to Symmonds on lap 7. One lap later, lap 8, Dane Blozovich, who started 9th, would slip under Symmonds coming off turn 4 to take over the top spot. Blozovich then pulled away over the final 5 laps to pick up his first win of the season at the track. Symmonds was 2nd, Mike Kincaid finished 3rd, Koontz was 4th, with Griffiths credited with 5th.

Up next was the 20 lap Shottenkirk of Ft. Madison IMCA SportMods, with Brandon Ruffcorn and John Oliver Jr. making up the front row. Oliver Jr. would take advantage of his front row starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Ruffcorn and Austen Becerra. Ruffcorn’s run up front came to an end on lap 3, when he spun in turn 2 to bring out the first caution of the event. On the restart Oliver Jr. moved back out front, but now had Tony Dunker, who started 5th, and Brandon Lennox, who started 6th, glued to his back bumper. Dunker, who was working the bottom of the track, would edge out Oliver Jr. at the line on lap 6 to take over the top spot. The two would then race side-by-side for the lead over the next 8 laps. As Oliver Jr. was credited with leading lap 11, Dunker would lead lap 12, with Oliver Jr. scored as the leader on lap 13. Then just after the completion of lap 13 the second caution of the race appeared to slow the battle up front. Ruffcorn and Dakota Anderson would spin in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Dunker would slip under Oliver Jr. to grab the lead away. At the same time Brayton Carter, who started 10th, went to the very top of the track to slip past Oliver Jr. to move into second. One lap later, lap 14, the third and final caution appeared to slow the action up front. This time Logan Anderson spun in turn 2 and collected Austin Howes, and Robert Gould to bring out the yellow. Once again Dunker moved back out front on the restart, with Carter and Lennox close behind. Carter, who was working the top of the track, would take over the top spot from Dunker on lap 16. Carter then held off a last lap challenge from Lennox and Dunker to claim his second win of the season at the track. Lennox settled for 2nd, Dunker was 3rd, Joey Gower started 7th and finished 4th, with Oliver Jr. holding on for 5th.

Alyssa Steele and Kenny Smith led the field to the green flag in the 15 lap Armstrong Tractors IMCA Sport Compact feature, with Steele grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Brandon Lambert and Josh Barnes, who started 6th. Just after the completion of lap 1 the first and only caution of the race appeared, as debris down the front stretch slowed the action. On the restart Steele moved back out front over Lambert and Barnes. Steele then held the lead until lap 5, when Lambert went to the top of the track to grab the top spot away. While Lambert worked to hold off Barnes over the next 7 laps, Kimberly Abbott, who started 8th, was working her way towards the front. On lap 12 Abbott would slip under Barnes to grab the runner up spot and then went to work on Lambert for the lead. Coming off turn four for the white flag Abbott would use the bottom of the track to edge out Lambert at the line for the lead. Abbott then held on over the final lap to pick up her second win of the season at the track. Lambert settled for 2nd, Barnes was 3rd, Brandon Reu started 7th and finished 4th, with Mike Reu rounding out the top 5.

Up next was the 20 lap Donnellson Tire and Service IMCA Stock Car feature, with Jake Wenig and Ryan Cook making up the front row. Ryan Cook would take advantage of his front row starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Jeremy Pundt and Wenig. Just after the completion of lap 1 the first and only caution of the race appeared, as Abe Huls came to a stop in turn 4 with a right front and rear flat tires. On the restart Ryan Cook moved back out front, with Wenig and Jeff Mueller, who started 5th, both over taking Pundt for the second and third spots. Ryan Cook then had to work to hold off Mueller over the next 7 laps. When Mueller slipped under Ryan Cook coming off turn 4 on lap 8 to take over the top spot. Mueller then pulled away over the final 12 laps to score his first win of the season at the track. Pundt recovered to finish in 2nd, Jason Cook started 10th and passed 7 cars to come home in 3rd, John Oliver Jr. started 7th and finished 4th, with Ryan Cook holding on for 5th.

The final feature to take to the track was the 20 lap Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, with Larry McConnell and Dean McGee leading the field to the green flag. But it was fifth place starter Jerad Fuller who quickly moved to the front to lead lap 1 over Carter VanDenBerg, who started 7th, and McGee. Just after the completion of lap 1 the first caution of the race appeared, as Levi Smith spun in turn 1 to bring out the yellow. On the restart VanDenBerg would use the top of the track to edge out Fuller at the line to grab the lead away. VanDenBerg then started to put some distance on the battle behind him, until the second and final caution came out on lap 7. This time McConnell spun in turn 2 to bring the yellow out. Once again VanDenBerg jumped back out front on the restart, with Scott Hogan, who started 8th, over taking Fuller for the runner up spot. While VanDenBerg worked to hold off Hogan for the lead, Jeff Waterman would close in on the top two by lap 17 to set up a three car battle. But VanDenBerg wouldn’t make any mistakes over the final 3 laps, and went on to score his third win of the season at the track. Hogan settled for 2nd, Waterman was 3rd, Fuller was 4th, with Bill Roberts Jr. rounding out the top 5.
