PostHeaderIcon Waterman and Reu Claim Their First Victories of 2013 at the Lee County Speedway

Donnellson, IA (Friday, July 19, 2013) – The hot and humid temperatures, plus the lighting in the area, didn’t slow down the action at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA, as it was Midwest Performance & Power, Hoenig Lawn Care and All Pro Lawn Night at the track. At the end of the evening Jeff Waterman (Budweiser IMCA Modifieds) and Brandon Reu (Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts) claimed their first wins of the season at the track, while Jason Cook (Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Cars), Tony Dunker (Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods), and Dustin Griffiths (Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks) picked up wins in there respective classes.

The first feature of the night was the 12 lap Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks, with Danny Miller and Ricky Miller Jr. making up the front row. But it was fourth place starter Jason See who grabbed the lead on lap 1 over Dustin Griffiths, who started 5th, and Andrew Hustead. See worked to hold back Griffiths over the next 8 laps, while Griffiths tried to fend off Hustead.

The top three cars would come up on a lapped car on lap 9, which Griffiths used as a pick to slip under See to take over the top spot. Coming to the white flag Griffiths got loose and slowed the momentum of See, which allowed Hustead to slip into second. Griffiths then edged out Hustead at the line by inches to claim his fourth win of the season at the track. Hustead was 2nd, See was 3rd, Danny Miller was 4th, with Ricky Miller Jr. rounding out the top five.

PostHeaderIcon $5 Fan Appreciation Night This Friday!

Donnellson, IA (Monday, July 15, 2013) – Coming up this Friday, July 19th at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA will be Fan Appreciation Night presented by Midwest Performance & Power of Keokuk, IA, Hoenig Lawn Care and All Pro Lawn both of Ft. Madison, IA. All adults, seniors, and students 7-17 will be admitted into the grandstand for just $5, with all kids 6 & under FREE!

The Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compact special will be draw/redraw event, highlighted by a 20 lap feature. The drivers will determine their own payout for this special, based on the amount of cars signed in on the night. With 12 cars it will be $150 to win, 16 cars it will be $250 to win, 24 cars it will pay $500 to win, a 30 car field it will pay $700 to win, and just in case 40+ cars show up it will $1000 to win. There will be no entry fees or track registration fees required.

Dunker Concrete of Ursa, IL has posted a $53 bonus to the hard charger in the 20 lap Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compact feature.

Also in action on the night will be the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds racing for $500 to win, the Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Cars, Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods, and Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Gates will open at 5:30 pm, hot laps at 7:00 pm, and racing at 7:30 pm. Don’t forget the grandstand admission for all adults, seniors, and students 7-17 is only $5, with kids 6 & under FREE! Pit passes will be $25, ages 7-13 $15, and ages 6 & under $10.

PostHeaderIcon Van Genderen, Cossel and Dunker Victorious During the Lee County Fair

Donnellson, IA (Friday, July 12, 2013) – This weeks racing action at the Lee County Speedway was held during the Lee County Fair, Iowa’s Oldest County Fair, with Budweiser helping in putting on the nights activities. At the end of the night Mike Van Genderen (Budweiser IMCA Modifieds) and Phillip Cossel (Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods) each won there first features of the season at the track, while Skipp Dunker (Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts) claimed his second win of the season at the speedway.

Hornung Jr. and Skipp Dunker on the front row. Dunker would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Hornung Jr. and Brandon Reu. While Dunker set a fast pace out front, Josh Barnes, who started 5th, Kimberly Abbott and Reu had a three way battle going for second, with Hornung Jr. and Scott Smith going at it for the fifth spot. Without any cautions to bring the field back to Dunker’s back bumper he would pull away to claim his second win of the season at the track, his first since the first week back on March 29th. Barnes won the battle for 2nd, Abbott was 3rd, Reu was 4th, with Smith winning the battle for 5th.

PostHeaderIcon Lee County Fair Race This Friday at the Lee County Speedway

Donnellson, IA (Tuesday, July 9, 2013) – Iowa’s Oldest County Fair, the Lee County Fair, is set to host this Friday’s racing action at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA. The night will be highlighted by the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders, also in action on the night will be the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCASportMods, and the Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts.

This will be the third and final appearance by the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders for the 2013 season at the Lee County Speedway. Russ Hall, who is currently leading the points, won the first event back on April 5th, while Jon Agan won the past race held at the track back on June 20th. Fans can expect a field of 30+ Sprint Cars going for a top prize of $1,200. Drivers expected to be on hand include Russ Hall, Ryan Jamison, Dustin Selvage, Matt Krieger, Jimmy Davies, Paul Nienhiser, Daniel Bergquist, Josh Schneiderman, Jamie Ball, Jon Agan, Tim Moore, Dave Getchell, Bobby Mincer, Matt Sutton, Mike Houseman Jr., Jarrod Schneiderman, Chase Wanner, John Greenwood, Harold Pohren, Andy Huston, Mitchell Alexander, Justin Newberry, Randy Martin, Chris Martin, and many more.

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods, and SunlineAuto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts will be competing for track, IMCA national, regional and state points. A top prize of $500 has been posted for the Modifieds, while the SportMods will be going for $400 to win, and the Sport Compacts for $200 to win. There is no entry fees or track registration fees required for this event.

Gates will open at 5:30 pm, hot laps at 7:00 pm, with racing at 7:30 pm. Grandstand admissions are adults $15, students 7-17 $10, kids 6 & under FREE! Pit passes will be $30, ages 7-13 $15, and ages 6 & under $10.

PostHeaderIcon Stewart Makes It Three In A Row at the Lee County Speedway

Donnellson, IA (Friday, July 5, 2013) – Another beautiful night meant the Lee County Speedway was back in action, as it was Shottenkirk of Fort Madison Night at the races. At the end of the night Steve Stewart picked up his third Budweiser IMCA Modified feature in a row, while John Oliver Jr. won the Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Car feature, Carter VanDenBerg was victorious in the Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods, Jason See won his second straight Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stock feature, with Austen Becerra claiming his first Sunline Auto Parts feature of the season at the track.

The first feature up on the night was the 14 lap Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts, with Mike Hornung Jr. and Brandon Lambert on the front row for the event. But it was third place starter Austen Becerra who jumped out into the lead on lap 1 over Lambert and Skipp Dunker. The battle up front was slowed for the first and only time on lap 2, as Dunker slowed to a stop in turn 2. On the restart Becerra moved back out front, while Josh Barnes, who started 5th, and Kimberly Abbott, who started 8th, slipped past Lambert in the battle for second. Becerra continued to hold the top spot, while Barnes, Abbott and Brandon Reu, who started 9th, battled for the runner up spot. Abbott was able to clear Barnes on lap 11 for second and then set her sights on Becerra for the lead. But Becerra was able to hold her off over the final 3 laps to claim his first win of the season at the track. Abbott was 2nd, Barnes was 3rd, Reu was 4th, with Lambert holding on for 5th.

Donnellson, IA (Thursday, July 4, 2013) – This Friday, July 5th will be Shottenkirk of Fort Madison, Iowa Night at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA.

In action on the night will be the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds racing for $500 to win and $100 to start. There are no entry fees for track registration fees required! Also in action will be the Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Cars, the Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods which will be a “King of the Hill” race, the Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks and Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts.

Don’t forget to bring the kids with you, as the T.A. Tire & Auto Jr Fan Club has two bicycles to giveaway thanks to the #77k Hamelton Motorsports driver Kyle Hamelton!

PostHeaderIcon Dunker Tops SportMod Pit Stop Challenge Race at the Lee County Speedway

Donnellson, IA (Friday, June 28, 2013) – For the second week in a row, which has been very rare during the 2013 season, the Lee County Speedway was able to get there weekly program completed. It was All Pro Lawn and Hoenig Lawn Care Night at the track, which featured a 30 lap Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMod special.

The first feature to take to the track was the 10 lap Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts, with Mike Hornung Jr. and Brandon Lambert on the front row. Lambert would take advantage of his front row start to grab the lead on lap 1 over Austen Becerra. While Lambert worked to hold back Becerra, Kimberly Abbott and Brandon Reu had a good battle going for third. Becerra, who used the bottom of the track, was able to get up beside Lambert, who was working the top side of the track, thru the corners, but Lambert would edge him out each lap at the line to keep the lead. Lambert would go on to lead all 10 laps of caution free racing to claim his second win of the season at the track. Becerra settled for 2nd, Reu won the battle for 3rd, Abbott was 4th, with Hornung Jr. coming home in 5th.

PostHeaderIcon $500 To Win For SportMods This Friday, June 28th!

Donnellson, IA (Monday, June 24, 2013) – This Friday night will be All Pro Lawn / Hoenig Lawn Care Night at the Lee County Speedway. It will also be the  night for the Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods to shine.

The Shottenkirk Parts Express IMCA SportMods will be racing for $500 to win, $300 for 2nd, and $60 to start. There feature will be 30 laps, with a pit stop on the front stretch after lap 15 is scored complete. They will be allowed to change two tires and anything else they can in 10  minutes. Then it’s back to racing for the final 15 laps. This will be a draw/redraw event, with no entry fees or track registration fees.

Also in action on the night will be the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds going for $500 to win and $100 to start, the Donnellson Tire IMCA Stock Cars, Coor’s Light IMCA Hobby Stocks, and the Sunline Auto Parts IMCA Sport Compacts.
